Tie-On Newborn Baby Booties Crochet Pattern

Baby blankets and baby afghans are lovely crochet projects. They are both useful and beautiful. They make great baby shower gifts and are also great for charity knitting or crocheting.
In the photo: a sample of an Afghan heart for girls. You can make a childish version of this Afghan by using blue, green and yellow instead of the colors shown in the image.
We have published a wide selection of free Afghan baby crochet patterns. There are models for both boys and girls, and many of them are unisex too.

I’ve been looking for a quick, easy bootie pattern to knit for a charity for a while that uses up leftover DK yarn, has a built-in tie, and doesn’t need to pick up any stitches. Pretty big question! So, after some fruitless searching, I decided to start designing!

I like the idea of having an all-in-one tie-on bootie because a tie-on bootie stays on wobbly toes much better. If the ties are attached to the bootie, you don’t have to worry about the ties getting loose and lost.

Each pair uses approximately 28m of DK (light worsted) yarn (approximately 15g).

If you have some spare time and some extra yarn it would be great if you could make some for a local charity too!
